Do You Think It’s Hard to Hear God’s Voice?

I had a conversation with a friend recently and he vented something to me that you probably have felt before. I know I have. His main gripe was ‘how come God doesn’t just speak like you and I are speaking with each other? Why is it so hard to hear from Him?’ Have you ever felt that before? Have you ever felt frustrated, not being able to recognize the voice of God? If so you are not alone. But I have some great news for you today and that is hearing from God is easier than you think. I used to feel frustrated too, not understanding how come I wasn’t hearing from Him. But as I started to understand the way God spoke I started to realize how easy it is to recognize His voice. This week I’ll be blogging on how to recognize His voice but today let me just emphasize one point and that is God wants to speak to you, and He does.

Before I started recognizing the voice of God more clearly I had to first understand this.  I had to come to the realization that hearing from God was my right as a child of God and He wanted to speak to me, just as I am. You see I once thought He was only interested in speaking to people who fit a certain mold, reached a certain plateau, or just had everything altogether. But then the Lord opened my eyes to the fact that if He speaks to people who aren’t saved and draws them into a relationship with Him, wouldn’t He speak to people who are already in a relationship with Him? Absolutely He would!

So the biggest hindrance I learned was thinking that I can’t hear from God or that God doesn’t want to speak to me. But then I realized that this is so far from the truth. You see if there is one thing that annoys people it would have to be not being heard. You want people to hear and understand you. You want people to know how you are feeling. God is the same way. It doesn’t give Him any joy for us to not be aware of His voice. And because of that He is committed to speaking to you.

In the coming days I’ll share with you how to recognize His voice. But just remember the words of Jesus Christ when He said, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me” John 10:27.  You can hear His voice, and you will! Stay tuned the rest of this week to find out how easy it is.

I’d love to hear from you. Let me know of your experience when it comes to hearing from God. Share your thoughts with me by leaving a comment below.

I to struggle with this situation.Sometimes I get so annoyed at the fact that people I know speak of hearing from The Lord and knowing it’s his voice without a doubt. But then I speak and cry out to hear from him and uncertainty floods my thoughts.I know my God is not a God of confusion but I don’t want to say I heard from him and it’s just my own thinking.Sometimes I even think to myself maybe I’m putting to much thought behind it like what I assume he may sound like.So while I’m assuming I’m missing out on the sweet whispers from my Father.
