No gossip here

Day 26 of 31 Days of Wisdom
gossip“Where there is no wood, the fire goes out; and where there is no talebearer (gossip), strife ceases.” Proverbs 26:20

Gossip, it’s something that feels good but really it brings hurt and pain. Some people love talking about others. What a person said, how a person looked, who a person is spending time with, whose doing what, and the list goes on. Some people not only like to gossip but they also love to hear it. Why? I believe somehow it makes them feel better about themselves.

But gossip also creates strife. It separates friends and causes relationships to sour. So wisdom tells us that we should do to gossip what we would do to wood if we wanted to put a fire out. We should remove it! Just like we would remove the wood to stop a fire, we should remove gossip from our lips and ears.

Today I encourage you to not entertain gossip. Don’t read about it in your social networks. Don’t even fill your ears with it from the news. If something being communicated is designed to tear someone down lets do our best to remove ourselves from it and instead speak words of grace and edification. If we do we will live a strife free life.

Love,

Ernst
