This week started with some bad news. I heard of a couple of deaths of people. Even though I did not know them personally a few people that I do know were shaken up. In the face of tragedy, many times you’re not sure what to say. I sat in my living room thinking about the situation and then I felt the Lord share something with me. He said: “In the midst of tragedy, feed on my faithfulness”. I immediately knew what that meant. In the midst of a time of grief the best thing you can do is to start recalling how faithful God is.
This is important because when you suffer a loss, it feels sort of like a vacuum, an empty space in your heart and soul, a feeling of total nothingness. That empty space can start being filled with doubt, wondering when the next tragedy will occur, resentment towards God, and fear. Or we can choose to fill that vacuum by feeding on God’s faithfulness. We do that by recalling the miracles, the divine interventions, and the times we’ve experienced His power.
God is faithful, even in the midst of tragedy! I took time to pray for those who were affected and I am trusting for divine comfort and strength. I also took time to reaffirm my faith in God’s faithfulness and power. It’s so critical. Bad news has a way of spreading fear and immobilizing you. Don’t ever allow the spirit of fear to take hold of your mind and soul. God is faithful! His promises are sure. His love is enduring.
Here are 5 things the Lord is faithful to do for you:
1) He’ll be with you. He’ll never leave you or forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6)
2) He won’t allow you to be tempted beyond your limits. He’s faithful to provide an avenue for you to overcome. (1 Corinthians 10:13)
3) He’ll forgive and cleanse you. (1 John 1:9)
4) He’ll preserve you. (1 Thess. 5:24; 1 Cor. 1:8-9)
5) He’ll establish you and guard you from the enemy. (2 Thess. 3:3)
Be encouraged today! And encourage someone else as well. Feed on His faithfulness!
